Play-in, Tonalization, Tutorial, Play-out, Ensemble, Private lesson
(COVID restriction applies to the number of people allowed in the room for all sessions)
Play-in and Play-out are the mass playing of the repertoire pieces together.
The students don't have to 'study' to play these pieces; you simply play what you can play.
There will be MANY pieces your child can't play yet, but being there to absorb in the environment is what 'Mother Tongue Education' of Suzuki Method is about.
Tonalization is unique to Suzuki learning where the particular focus is placed on the rich tone production. At 7am class, the students play pieces with 'good tone' in mind.
Tutorial class focuses on the pieces in the particular level. Usually a piece or so is picked to work on the particular elements in playing the cello. The tutor assumes the students can play all the pieces up to the level which will be used in the tutorial class.
Ensemble class is for everyone. Each student will be allocated to a suitable level.
To be COVID safe, everyone to bring own music stand.
Private lesson is for everyone. Each student will be allocated to a tutor to receive one private lesson up to half an hour.
------------------------------------------
Concert
Solo performance is optional, but this does not incur an extra cost.
You will be allocated a brief run-through time with a piano accompanist during the camp.
If you want to do more practice with an accompanist than a run-through,
you need to do it before the camp day.
You will need to pay to the accompanist, and we can help to communicate.
As of Dec 13: Application for pieces above Book 4 is closed, depending on the piece chosen.
Final concert is where everyone has a chance to play their ensemble pieces and mass items.
For both concerts, adult audience wears a face mask, and COVID safe seating arrangement needs to be observed.
------------------------------------------
Masterclass
We are very excited to welcome Miles Mullin-Chivers who hailed from Takao's studio as a masterclass tutor at the cello camp!!
The masterclass is optional to the regular programme. You can choose to add on.
Masterclass is an open lesson and you are encouraged to watch it.
As of Dec 13, it is full but you can ask to be placed on the waiting list for Masterclass.
------------------------------------------Parents Talk, Parents Cello Session
Parents Talk is a lecture session where you get to hear about Suzuki topic. In this session, you can ask questions as invited. Parents cello session is a fun and informal 'class' where any parents can try out learning the cello !
-----------------------------------------
Jam sessionVery informal loosely organised playing session; it often includes alternative pieces to be fun
-----------------------------------------
Classrooms
Classroom capacity restriction is eased from December to allow 2sqm. per person.
The commuting students on the waiting list are now placed in the classes.
-----------------------------------------
Accommodation
You need to bring your DOONA/BLANKET/Sleeping bag
We will be the only occupants over the weekend.
Initially we were only allowed to put members of the same family to one cabin room.
Now you can ask to share with other families to make up to 3 adults and 5 children, but will have to fit into the size of the room.
Most of the rooms are 6 beds room (3 bunk beds) and they all have their own toilet and a shower.
Applications made after the standard rooms are filled were placed in a shared room.
Now the rooms are full, you will be place on a waiting list.
You may opt out to commute each day for the same program.
The venue charges more for the commuters who does full program (much longer day than their offered time frame) but we secured the same rate as weekender's rate.
This means you pay the same as campers and can arrive at 7am and can stay until the end of the evening. (see Google Form from above Registration link https://forms.gle/BffDLHySGpvCPYJr5)
